Who can pick playoff winners better...me or a paper bag?

After my outstanding results in Caps Chick's playoff pool, I wondered if picks chosen randomly would fare better than my own well researched and thought out picks. So earlier in the week, I put some teams in a hat and here are the results:

New York Rangers in seven
Anaheim Ducks in six
San Jose Sharks in five
Ottawa Senators in five

(I decided that since I was going random, I would put pieces of paper numbered 4 through 7 and pick the number of games it would take for the win.)

My actual picks (sans number of games, because that is too complex for me):

Buffalo
Anaheim
Detroit
New Jersey

I have a feeling that paper bag is going to fare a lot better than my personal picks.

Columbus, anyone?

So I just found out that this year's entry draft is being held in Columbus, Ohio on June 22nd and 23rd. Why has Bethany not mentioned this? I know it is not that exciting to see the guys get drafted, but I think they have the awards ceremony the day before, so there may be real hockey players in the city as well. Anyone interested in a roadtrip to the lovely city of Columbus?

Here is info on how to get tickets and where to stay...

I didn't want to reveal this but...

You leave me no choice but to reveal my true reasons for rooting for the Sabres.

Teams I cheer for generally lose. I was not a Flyers fan until the end of the 2005-2006 season...they choked big in the playoffs. I bought a gameplan for this year...worst record in history. Before my affair with hockey, I had a brief fling with Phillies baseball...they sucked too.

So see Margee, by cheering for Buffalo, I was ensuring an Islanders win.

But now that I revealed my secret, I dunno if it will work.

Okay guys, tonight do this to Daniel Briere...

Ah, playoffs...

I freakin love this time of year. What is it that makes the playoffs so great?

Why am I checking my schedule to make sure I will be home to see as many games a possible, when my team isn't even in it? Why will I sit on my couch for 6 hours, flipping back and forth between games...wait, do I have picture in picture capability on my tv? I don't know the answers, I don't know what makes the playoffs so great.

The intensity of play dramatically changes (see Game One of Sens/Pens). The teams play each other night after night, and try to adjust their game accordingly.

I am not going to get crazy analyzing it, but let's just say I am happy to have two more months of hockey to watch.

Go Sabres! Go Ducks! What happens when the final comes down to these two teams? Who do I cheer for then?

Dear Buffalo,

Thanks for letting us win today!

Love, Kristin

PS... I will be secretly rooting for you in the playoffs....
