Okay, this takes a few seconds to get into, but stick with it, trust me....

I'm not gonna lie...

It's hard to get pumped up for Flyers vs. Panthers. But Canadiens vs Tampa Bay? There's a game I can get behind...

I don't even feel guilty! This Habs thing is starting to get a little out of control, eh?

Did the All Star Game seriously go to a shootout?!?

Dear Mr. Kovalev: I hate children, but will gladly bear as many of yours as needed.

God, I love tivo. Fast forwarding until goals were scored is really the way to go with the All Star Game. It's not that it's boring (it's not), it's that it doesn't matter, so why watch? Imagine if a team were made up of these players? Did you see the first few shifts? Everyone is so relaxed and loose...passing pucks behind their backs and through their legs....truly a thing of beauty to see players just enjoying the game.

ugh

Well, I was gonna post some links to Thrashers blogs (yes they do exist), but it looks like none of them have been updated since the news of Kovalchuk getting the C. Um, yeah, so your only star player was just last week made Captain? Seems a little odd to me, but what the heck do I know?

Um, oops, wait a second, we're playing Florida tonight? Oh shit? I should start this post over, but the fact that I really thought we were playing the Thrash is just too funny. I was even convinced that Nitty was gonna get the start! I guess I am off by a week or so.

Anyhoo....

The good news to report out of Florida is that my nemesis, Olli Jokinen, doesn't play for them anymore! Yay for me! The bad news is that Jay Bouwmeester seems to have taken up Flyer killing duties in his absence. Oh well. Let's see if there are any Panthers blogs out there...

um, okay, I guess this technically qualifies, but really, Litter Box Cats? Huh. Looks like they have a pretty good preview if you wanna check it out. I'm too tired right now to understand why there is a picture of Yoda in the post. Maybe I'll read it after my nap.

There's also Panthers on the Prowl and Cat Scratch. Yeesh. Look, I know my blog has a ridiculous name, but all these cat puns are out of control.

Okay kids, that's all for now. Off for a nap and then some Mario Kart during the game. You didn't think I was going to watch the guys suck for three games in a row, did you?!?

Is it just me...

or do you feel a bit of a losing streak coming on?

well that was a terrible game!

Here is a picture from the game. I shot warmups from the Pens side, because things on the Flyers end are just too ridiculous. Talbot was more than happy to pose for some pictures...

Pens really did a great job of keeping the Flyers out of the offensive zone. It was like a broken record, Flyers skate up ice, get stopped at the blue line by the Pens. Repeat about 45 times. Or, Flyers get possession in own zone, make 7 shitty passes to get it up ice, and pass it to the Pens in the process. Repeat 75 times. Very frustrating game to see in person.

I was done with the game after the second period, but couldn't convince Rod to leave. After one particularly bad move by Hartnell, he decided he had had enough of this ridiculousness, and we left with about 5 minutes left. I never ever leave a game early, but the shitty level of play on our part left no question in my mind that there would be no comeback.

Oh well. You can't win them all. I have to agree with Nadine that being out of first place in the division is a good thing. When you're in first, there is nowhere to go but down!

So there's a game today or something...

Mmmmmm, baked Iceburgh...

It's hard not to get excited for a game like this. Pens are in a bit of a slump right now, but I'm sure playing against Hartnell will bring out their douchey best. Poor guy better skate like there's a target on his back.

For actual previews and whatnot, check out the usual crew:
Pensblog....undergoing construction, not sure if they will have a gameday post up or not.
Frozen Fan...nothing up yet, maybe later today.
Four Habs Fans...oh wait, that one's for me
Empty Netters...lots of great links
and of course, those crazy boyz over at FGSB. I think they eat crazy for breakfast just like Scottie Upshall

I'll be at the game of course. Any requests for pictures? I'm going to try and actually take some this time. Haha!

Um, yeah. I'm not sure why I have this unhealthy obsession with Kovalev. It's a bit disturbing! The Habs hat that I keep wearing to work is probably going to get me beat up. Oh well.

hey ref you suck

Really? Really? The Wild are the biggest bunch of act-y divers I've seen in a while. Stupid ass penalty after stupid ass penalty. I love when the refs give the crowd something to boo about, but that was ridiculous. I was attending the game with a usually mild mannered friend, and even he was yelling at the refs. Loudly, while everyone else was quiet. I was concerned for his health! He even said, "I know you can hear me!!!!" Yikes.

I decided at the last minute to go to the game, as Rod said he had lower level seats from a friend. Nice. If I had known that, I would have left earlier! Traffic was a bitch, and for some reason was absolutely gridlocked once we got to the parking area. Rod ended up parking at Novacare....in 20 degree weather. That was a long walk back to the car.

Anyhow, this is my favorite excerpt from the (obviously biased) Flyers website regarding the game:

Minnesota took an early lead thanks to a blown call by one of the linesmen, when the Wild pressured in the Flyers' zone after what should have been an icing call. Cal Clutterbuck centered to Stephane Veilleux at 12:11 to make it a 1-0 game.

Referees Dave Jackson and Kevin Pollock were also targets from the sellout crowd, making penalty call after penalty call on Philadelphia. A too-many-men infraction in the second period gave the Wild a two-man advantage for over a minute while play was not anywhere near the bench, and Pollock fell for a perfect-10 of a dive by Kim Johnsson after he was barely touched by Knuble late in the period.

“It’s a little frustrating. It seemed like everything we did, they were either falling down and getting the calls, or we were just trying to give a guy an extra shot, and it seemed like they were calling it on us all night," said Hartnell.

Looking forward to a non 1 pm Saturday start time, and maybe my heat will even be fixed by then!

Happy New Year a bit late...

Check out BGL's suave accent and unnervingly deep voice.

Hey All! Sorry for a bit of an absence there. I've been traveling with the Habs and giving Kovalev some tips on his power play (if ya know what I mean...)

I wish I had read this article earlier in the day. It seems Boudreau was doing a bit of yapping today, trying to get his boys fired up. What a douche. I missed the first two periods of the game due to a nap related incident, so we'll have to check in with Steve and Jon to get a feel for how the crowd was...sounds like they were both there in person. Hope they didn't get beat up by some Nuggnutt in a Brashear jersey.

I guess that's all for now. I hope to get a break from Kovalev later in the week and will update you on some fantasy news from the four fantasy leagues I'm in. Hint: I suck in three out of four. But in the one I don't suck in, I am 12-1. Nice.
