Kukkonen on waivers??

But didn't he just play tonight? Interesting news for those of you on the Shanahan watch...

This was a good excuse for me to post an old picture of Gator and Kooky...

  1. See, now my fantasy moves don't seem so crazy afterall, haha. Let's hope! And I take back my anti-Eminger/Downie for Carle trade complaint. Carle looked great last night, literally saving a GWG at one point. And in a month or so, we are going to have TOO many D's, so Kuk will be better served on the Phantoms anyways.

  2. Waivers, you never cease to confuse me.

  3. I wish people would stop making fun of Scotty's shootout attempt last night. Yes, it was horrible and yes, I've seen much better attempts in my dek hockey league, but c'mon, it was his first try!

  4. Steve, I only saw part of the game, but the part I saw made me love Carle. I think Homer done good with this one. (Not that it really makes any difference at this point, as there seems to be so many other issues with this group of guys.)

And I didn't see Hartnell's attempt, as my eyes were closed, and then my head was banging against the wall...

  5. Jess, does this help?

"Any player who has played three seasons since signing his first NHL contract or has played 180 NHL games must clear waivers before he is assigned to a minor league affiliate.

Once a player is placed on waivers, teams have 48 hours to put in a claim on that player. If more than one team places a claim, the team with the lower number of points in the previous season is awarded the player. If no team places a claim, the player can be sent to a minor league affiliate.

When a player clears waivers and is sent down then is called up again, he would not have to clear waivers to be sent down again unless he's played 10 games or been "up" for 30 days."

It's usually about freeing up money on the big team...

  6. Wasn't he placed on waivers before he played yesterday? That's got to be some serious diss-age.

"Um, so Kooky, we're going to send you to the AHL or you might get picked up by some other team. But you're going to play for us tonight. As a center. Sound good?"

If that's not motivational, I don't know what is.

  7. Thanks Kristin! I still can't believe they waived him... and then played him. How is that the best idea?

  8. I'm pretty sure he was waived after the game...I don't think they could waive him and still play him....

  9. Hmm, that's weird, they did cut him and then let him play. I didn't even know you could do that!
